The Delaware City refinery reported a release of 248 pounds of sulfur dioxide after one of its scrubbers experienced problems. The scrubber, used in polllution contool is shut down for the time being.

The release at 10:40 p.m. Was not related to an earlier release that occurred during boiler maintenance.

This chemical or substance is considered to be hazardous by the EPA.

This incident is currently under investigation by The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
