Evraz announced it will restart its Portland mill that was idled in July 2009 оnce the installation of new equipment is complete in the first half of 2013.

Evraz operates a mill in Claymont that supplies steel plate for construction and other uses. That mill remained opened throughout the economic downturn.

Because of its proximity to the fast-growing Bakken and Western Canada oil and natural gas regions, as well as oil fields in the Rocky Mountains, the Portland spiral mill is ideally positioned to supply pipe for exploration and transmission, according to a statement from the company that is based in London, but has much of its operations in Russia.

Oil from the Bakken area in North Dakota is making its way into Delaware where it is being refined in Delaware City.
