New Castle County Police are investigating a second homicide in the past week in the Route 40 area.

At 10:52 p.m., Saturday, first responders were called to the 400 block of Calburn Court for the report of a shooting.
They found James Williams, Jr., 48, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Buckley is off Route 40, east of Del. Route 7.

Multiple units responded to the scene and immediately set up a perimeter and then began canvassing the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the suspects. The suspects, described as three black males, immediately fled from the residence on foot before they entered a vehicle and fled from the area.

Earlier the week, a man was shot and killed at a basketaball court a few miles away near the community of Wilton, just west of Route 40 and 13 split. A suspect has been arrested in the case.
