Cafe Scalessa announced a Sept. 7th reopening at its old location on Greenhill Avenue in Wilmington.
The restaurant had closed in 2011, but had retained its website and e mails continued to indicate it would reopen in the area. Owner-chef Don Scalessa first opened the restaurant in November of 2002.
Scalessa will be open on its first night from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m. on the first day. Reservations are advised and can be made via email at cafescalessa@aol.com.
Scalessa became known for a unique operating style that for a time included the wait staff reciting the menu. After dinner hour, Scalessa became a night spot.
It also earned praise from WIP morning drive radio host Angelo Cataldi for its meatballs, along with Best of Delaware honors from Delaware Today magazine.
