Newark’s annual Food and Brew Festival will feature free parking and perhaps better weather on Saturday.
The e City of Newark will offer free parking in municipal lots for the event, according to a Facebook Posting from the Downtown Newark Partnership.
An conditioned hybrid shuttle with frequent stops to participating restaurants will also be offered.
The posting indicated the predicted temperature won’t be nearly hot and humid as it was the past two years. Weather.com calls for a high temperature of 85.
The event is sponsored Out & About Magazine and the Downtown Newark Partnership. The event showcases more than 40 craft and imported beers paired with offerings from 17 of Newark’s restaurants.
Unlike most beer festivals, this event takes place in the restaurants. You travel from restaurant to restaurant to sample the featured brews and dishes designed to spotlight the brews at that establishment. Tickets are not required. This is a pay-as-you-go event that only requires a state-issued ID. A total of 2,500 small beer tasting mugs will be offered free of charge.
Beer tastings and food specials begin at 2 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.
