Junior Achievement of Delaware has been awarded one of Junior Achievement USA’s (JA) highest honors, the Summit Award. The award is given to local JA offices that have an operating surplus, program quality, management effectiveness, and program growth in the previous fiscal year (ended June 30). This is the second consecutive year the local area has earned the honor.

JA of Delaware, which serves more than 18,400 students throughout the state of Delaware and nearby Salem and Cecil Counties, was recognized for this accomplishment recently at the Junior Achievement National Leadership Conference in Grand Rapids, Mich.

“These Summit Award winners represent the best Junior Achievement has to offer,” said Jack E. Kosakowski, president and chief executive officer of Junior Achievement USA. “They set the standard by which Junior Achievement’s success is measured at the local level. Their commitment and dedication to young people is reflected in their achieving this honor.”

“We are thrilled to receive a second Summit Award,” said Rob Eppes, president of Junior Achievement of Delaware. “We now begin the hard work of achieving newly formulated Operating Performance Standards for local JA areas which include more rigorous fiscal requirements intended to ensure the future financial health and stability of the organization.”

“This award was made possible thanks to our more than 1,500 volunteers and hundreds of corporate and community partners,” Eppes said, “who all joined with our board and staff to empower thousands of young people to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.”
