Florida-based women’s clothing retailer, Chico’s and Capitol Luggage are leasing space in Christiana Mall.

The hiring portion of the Chico’s website, says the retailer plans to open in August. It has been advertising for a store manager since May.

Chico’s competes in a segment of the market that includes two other mall retailers, Talbot’s and Coldwater Creek. The company has stores in Greenville, Del. and Chadds Ford, Pa. It often has stores in tourist destinations and upscale shopping centers. Following an expansion and overhaul of the center that included the addition of Nordstrom, Christiana has been drawing upscale merchants although it has also landed value-priced chains like H&M.

DelawareOnline.com also reported the addition of Capitol Luggage, which offers more expensive suitcases, carry-on bags and other items.

The Maryland and Washington, D.C.-area company operates in this region, but little other information was immediately available.

The Capitol and Chico openings have been overshadowed by a Microsoft Store that will open in the mall. No date has been announced.

The software giant has about 30 stores open or in the works. It will compete with Apple, which has more than 10 times as many retail stores that include locations in major cities. One store in New York City is open around the clock.
