Food Bank to graduate 30th culinary school class

The Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware, Newark, will celebrate its 30th graduating class with a special graduation program on June 19th Guest speaker, Robert Egger, will address the graduates. Egger is founder of the DC Central Kitchen, author of Begging for Change and was also recognized in both 2007 and 2006 as one of The NonProfit Times 50 Most Powerful and Influential Leaders, according to the Food Bank.

The school has helped place many local residents in restaurants and food service operations.

The Food Bank of Delaware distributes between seven and 10 million pounds of food and grocery products each year to 475 hunger-relief partners throughout the state and also provides thousands of meals a month for children through the After-School Feeding Program, the Summer Food Service Program and the Backpack Program. The Food Bank’s hunger-relief programs directly provide for 241,600 Delawareans at risk of going without meals each year.
