A big-time rock festival is coming to Delaware in July.  The FireFly Music Festival will be held July 20-22 in a wooded area near Dover International Speedway.
So far, the line-up includes guitarist Jack White, The Killers, The Black Keys, John Legend  and Death Cab for Cutie to name a few. Any one of the these performers  can fill up a  venue.

The name Firefly may sound familiar to rock fans, since it is  the name of a  major music festival in the United Kingdom. A press release announcing the Dover event carried a dateline from England, although the event will be operated by Chicago-based Red Frog events.
While the concert business has often struggled in recent years, with some big-name older performers cutting back or canceling their schedules, a few music festivals have thrived under strong management. Perhaps the best known is Bonnaroo in Tennessee.
Drugs, while not unknown, are kept under control and with a location in the shadow of the State Police headquarters, security will be heavy, but friendly.
Such events have been fairly rare on the East Coast, perhaps a reflection of Woodstock and a few clinker festivals.
Perhaps not as happy as others about FireFly is the Delaware State Fair, which will tilts more toward country, but will be competing for concert dollars.
The News-Journal reported the event could pump $12 million into the economy, tapping into an affluent group of  under 40 concert goers. The festival will have an upscale touch that will include hot air balloon rides and areas for wine sampling and craft beer.
